The Eurodistrict of the Catalan Cross-border Area will form an European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC), in accordance with European Regulation (EC) num. 1082/2006 of the European Parliament and the Council of 5 July 2006.
The Eurodistrict, as a body endowed with legal personality and financial autonomy, will be to facilitate, develop and promote cross-border cooperation between its members in order to strengthen economic and social cohesion as well as sustainable and environmental development of the territory. Its area of action includes Northern Catalonia (Pyrénées-Orientales) and the demarcation of Gerona.
